Exposure 101 -- A Beginners
Guide to Capturing Light
This
workshop will deliver the tool’s every photographer needs
to harness the fundamental capabilities of their camera required for
all photography to include nature. "Exposure 101"
delivers a sound technical foundation intended to make the mechanics of
image capture more second-nature. That mastery frees you to
explore artistically...frees you to enjoy nature...frees you from
frustration.

We’ll explore the concepts of Aperture, Shutter
Speed, Film/Sensor “ISO” Speed, Depth of Field, and Metering in
simple but detailed terms. Not sure what those things are? They are
the parameters all those dials and buttons on your camera are
changing, be they set by you manually or by your camera’s automatic
features. From a disposable point-&-shoot to an $8,000 pro camera,
the same basic principles are at play.
Are your shots too often blurred or all black or bleached white
instead of a properly exposed pleasing image with detailed shadows
and highlights? Do your images have blue or orange color casts
instead of the rich colors your remembered? Are the tones too flat
or too harsh? How do I freeze action and isolate the
subject with a smooth, blurred background? How do I
make wide angle shots look sharp from up close to far away? How do
I get waterfalls to seem silky smooth? This workshop provides the
answers.
